When renovating one’s life and removing undesirable traits or behaviors a void from what was removed may result.
For example, removing unhealthy food from one’s diet. Healthy food has to be available to fill the dietary void left by removing unhealthy foods.
Another example is reducing mobile phone use or uninstalling time-wasting apps. It’s important to fill that newly available time with more productive or useful activities.
This, of course, was said years ago by David HaMelech:
Turn from bad and do good.
Psalm 34:14
Failing to fill the void with a productive or holy behavior may result in the void be filled with a different undesireable behavior. In the geopolitical world it’s not uncommon for corruption to fill the void of a the collapsed nation or society.
If you are unsure how to best fill the void simply ask G-d for ideas and direction — He is waiting to hear from you!
